Each of the BIG4 PhD projects is multidisciplinary and therefore requires supervisory input from several experts. Any student of BIG4 has the main institution of enrollment in the PhD school and the main advisor working at that institution. However, BIG4 program assumes that each student has a possibility to spend significant time (up to several months) on secondments in other labs of BIG4 run by the project co-supervisors. Such secondments are the way to experience new scientific environment and work on the aspects of the project that require a co-advisor’s input.
