Ashish Tomar is currently working at Era7 Bioinformatics, Spain as an Early Stage Researcher (ESR). His project in the BIG4 consortium is to design and implement a cloud based system for the storage and analysis of genomic and metagenomic data and a layer on top of Bio4j for facilitating the use of this platform for systematists working with insects. This project is supervised by Dr. Eduardo Pareja (Era7 bioinformatics) and co-supervised by Professor Niklas Wahlberg and Professor Fredrik Ronquist.
Ashish is from India where he completed his M.Sc. in bioinformatics and biotechnology from Institute of Bioinformatics and Applied Biotechnology, Indira Gandhi National Open University. His M.Sc. thesis was on "Epigenomics and transcriptomics regulation of hESC and iPSC: Understanding correlation between hES and iPS using Chip-seq, Bis- seq and RNA seq". After his M.Sc., Ashish worked at "DuPont India" as an intern and his project was to create web service and automation pipeline for genome annotation. Ashish is experienced in analysis of transcriptomics (RNA-seq), epigenomics or methylation (ChIP-seq, methyl-seq and BS-seq) and variant data and his areas of interest are computational biology, biological data visualization, data integration, plant genomics and microbiome studies.
