Biosystematics, informatics and genomics of the big 4 insect groups: training tomorrow's researchers and entrepreneurs

Training events

One of the special features of BIG4, as an EU funded Innovative Training Network, is regular joint workshops for all students that cover various aspects of modern entomological systematics, such as: growth and maintenance of the entomological collections including specimens adequately preserved for innovative kinds of examination; integration of new methods in insect systematics from advanced morphological studies of extant and extinct species to genomics; or better involvement of academia in Citizen Science. The first workshop (exact program to be decided) where all newly hired BIG4 students will get to meet each is scheduled to take place in Copenhagen from September 14th-18th, 2015. The second workshop will take place in late November or early December 2015 in the field, most likely in the cloud forest of Ecuador and will be focused on collecting techniques and diversity of the biggest insect lineages.
